It’s SO tricky isn’t it. On one hand, Black Friday can offer a sales booster when people are in spending mode. On the other hand, as an ethical business, it doesn’t seem right to “buy” into it.

I very much think you can stay strong in offering no discounts. But just be very clear on the messaging (and stay strong). It’s all about building…

Make a stand on not offering a discount: Being clear in your message that your products are made with quality and priced so they you cannot offer large discount. Be transparent and it may even lead to greater sales as people align with your values.

Donation to charity: Instead of offering a discount, pledge a charity donation for every sale. As well as obviously being a really good thing to do, this can be a great story telling piece to show that you are true to your values.

Subscriber only discounts: Promote that there will be discounts but they will only be available to your email community. This helps increase your owned data list and may lead to sales in the future. It also makes your subscribers feel more like VIP’s.

Bundle Offers: Instead of heavily discounting individual products, offer deals on product bundles. This helps increase the overall spend, but also helps move products that might be slower the sell.
