A little about me | So much of fashion today feels empty, like iterations of one another that follow a constant stream of ever changing trends. I wanted to create special pieces that’s accessible & meaningful. As a digital nomad, I was privileged to live in places like Mexico & Brazil, where culture and tradition is so harmoniously embedded in the local fashion scene – it wasn’t about trends, it was about style and there is so much power in this form of self expression. When I went home to Indonesia – first time in almost 5 years – for a country with such a rich textile history and culture, I struggled to find this. The sentiment & brands that exist for these textiles are either high end and extravagant, or cheaply made by factories in bulk. The rare middle players offered One Size fits all, so everything was just a little bit off. I started my brand as a middle market solution, creating heritage garments fit for every day use while still feeling like they’re wearing something unique and special. Working with local communities also expanded my knowledge on culture, history and building relationships with people whose paths I may never have crossed. And the impact is powerful, not only economically but also in their pride and joy when they see these items are being worn and appreciated by everyone. Every social interaction, every purchase – it all matters and FELT! When I’m not working on Pedasss Atelier, I work on my day job as a Product Manager in an AdTech start up. And while not doing either of the two, I moonlight as an illustrator and manga artist – writing my own stories and illustrating for commissions. My hobbies are plenty as I’m always open to trying new things – pilates, muay thai, window shopping, flower arranging, trying out different foods, travelling. I’m lucky to have a remote job with a lot of flexibility and trust within the team, it allows me to live life on my own terms most of the time as it gives me a lot of freedom. But I hope with my business that I can gain financial freedom – I would love to be able to afford everything I want and need without running maths and cashflow in the back of my head! I would love to connect with other creatives, brand owners, visionaries – build connections that can bring our ventures UP, collaborate and grow as people, not just businesses. |
